Sassy fans, loungers
In the middle of upscaling a piece or two for my living space.

It’s been here awhile- the fad of painting furniture is dissipating- to a crisp, clean modern finish. If you can’t do it- lightly sand the piece- use a micro fiber towel- get all of the blemishes off and change the hardware. (Funnest part) make sure all knocks and crannies are sanded cleaned and wiped free of dust! See that light wood? Poly it! Rub the poly and let it sit- over night! Lightly and I mean lightly buff if using an electric buffer- wood wax- buff again and tah dah- see if you don’t fall in love w that piece as natural wood. Do that- with cabinet doors and shelves and you’ll bring a natural wood feel that’s exquisite!

Good morning Sassy Fans; take a peek at the latest trends. If you are building or wanting to build a new home- these finishes are timeless. Oak marked the 80’s,90’s. Expresso/Jacobobean hit the the 2000’s. 2025 brought the walnut back and mixed w stone(any variation) is beautiful. ps limestone is porous like granite- so make sure you get pro advice on sealant.

Becareful- IMO if numbers aren’t on back or drawers are damaged- or piece needs help- you can upcycle and revive this piece. However- the antique market is driven by demand and these pieces are WOOD! Not MFA most hand built- some wood oil and beautiful lace top runner w legacy pieces! Paint locks in placement. Natural wood is versatile for every room! Make it happen but stripping paint takes hours! IMO

Stay on timeless. Simple. How cream/neutral works- base stays and accessories change. Allowing for cost to be utilized and maximized. It’s the base of soft, cozy not hospital feel.

Reimagine your space. Pull everything out and only put back useful pieces- add two or three timeless pieces. Ps incorporate a legacy piece or spread them out. Keeping your favorites. Now, life has your own spin in the space you live in.

Vintage shopping and you run across old patina furniture. Please check that all drawers are in good shape and it has good bones. You do NOT have to scrape this. I recommend going over it with fine steel wool only taking the flakes. No worries it’ll have plenty left to rub not brush, polyurethane over. Make sure the legs aren’t severely scarred from moisture-or the back and if numbers are still showing in the back- leave those! Those tell the story of manufacture.

In the sun- pull out all drawers- soft brush or fine steel wool don’t press hard- and just wipe with a micro fiber towel.

Let the sun cure the piece and it will.
Then apply polyurethane- w a clean rag. Rubbed it and let dry! Come back in Three hours and do it again. Let cure. Move to dry space if rain is in forecast!
