The Rusted Raven Furniture Co is embarking on a new flight. We are rebranding as: the cat house.

In the past few years we’ve dealt with some changes and sourcing pieces for the “furniture only” business became too overwhelming .

So instead, we are starting an online and local resale site.
We will have clothing, home decor, gadgets, toys and other unique items, available on our depop.com site linked below.

We do have plans to work on small art pieces reflective of our Raven days, so dont worry!

We miss working with you all and appreciate your support through the years. The new adventure is super exciting but in its fledgling stage so please be patient with us!

If you do follow our new journey, the boys, all nine of them, will surely amuse you and hopefully our products will make you as happy as our old ones did.

Some autumn vibes.

I found this in Winterport at a yard sale a few weeks ago. It was so plain Jane, the only hope was paint. I did some tricks that I’ve wanted to try. it worked out.

It was a desk and now it’s night stands.

I grabbed this desk yesterday from the Habitat ReStore of Greater Bangor with the intention of ripping it apart. I was going to paint it all… But, I noticed the wood on the drawers matched up perfectly.

I refinished the top and the drawers with special walnut and ultra flat poly.
The body is painted with my shop mix and sealed with black wax.
The hardware is original and offset.

This is what I worked on this week. Solid oak shaker style buffet.

It wasn’t in bad shape. One of the doors was completely broken but other than that, it was a nice piece to work on.
I started by fixin things and then removed paint and and lacquer from the doors, drawers and top. I finished it with minwax provincial and new hardware. The color is custom with a dark to light fade it was finished with black wax. The wood still needs a coat of poly, I’ll get that today. This will be ready for pickup tomorrow or later today.

With the natural wood grains and and a neutral color that goes with everything. This buffet would be amazing as a coffee station or just extra storage in any room or office.

I found this 3 drawer chest at the Habitat ReStore of Greater Bangor. I love that place so much that I volunteer there. Any way…

Good morning.
This is a super solid buffet I picked up on the coast last week. It is tagged by the builder but I couldn’t find a lot of info on the google. Most likely built in the 50s-60s and is pretty much brand new.

50+ year old side table buffet

The paint color is called Colonel Mustard. “In the library, with a candle stick!” After prepping and cleaning and a quick sanding I got to work with 3 coats of paint and sealed with black wax which gave this piece some depth and shading. I refinished the top with Jacobean, a dark stain and 3 coats of poly so that wood will last forever. When I removed the 2 of the doors I noticed all the screws had popped in this hardwood. 2 of the doors were then unusable. My solution was radiator screen painted to mach the new hardware in oil rubbed bronze. All drawers and doors work flawlessly.

Underneath is great. The screen allows for cable remote access or DVD players or whatever goes under there. Holes have been drilled for wires.

IMO this would be amazing as your entertainment center. Storage for days. Hide electronics and remotes will work through the screen.

I just finished this empire chest.
Can you believe that this chest is at least 120 years old. And it’s solid.

I saw this beauty at the restore last month. I was thinking I should probably start furniture back up after what I call “ a glitch in the matrix” because I love wooden furniture and I love doing this.

Started my morning finishing a small project at Vibes. Well, the start of many small projects. Adding a touch of Raven to a business style setting is always a win. It ties everything together. Pine is like natures rug..?
These are cut to fit custom painted pieces of 1x4 used as an inlay.

I got this piece from w.a. beans probably 4 years ago. The top was covered in blood and guts and who knows what else. It used to be a butchers table. That’s why it’s made of the hardest wood ever and weighs about 250 lbs.

What I did
I soaked the top in bleach for 1 day and try hem scrapped off the nasty. Then I had to take 1/32” off with my plainer and then belt sander and then orbital.
I got it all looking perfect and mixed gray and Jacobean stain to refinish. I found some wide barn boards to make a storage shelf.
I added the pipe to bring the table up to 37” perfect for crafting. It’s one of my wife’s Christmas gifts, like she would ever let me get rid of something that was used for death.
