It all began for Bobby Jordan while he was working for Mr. Frank Richardson at Outside Furniture Company. While employed there, he developed a love for the furniture business. After much prayer and consideration, he, along with his wife Bobbie, rented a building on Highway 74E in Rockingham. On April 2, 1964, Bobby’s Furniture opened. It was difficult starting a new business, but Bobby knew that p

eople had a choice of where they could shop for furniture. He stood by the Golden Rule from Matthew 7:12, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” By applying this principle to his life, God has richly blessed Bobby’s Furniture. God deserves ALL the credit for what He has done. Little did we know what God had in store for Bobby’s Furniture. In October 1982, a second store was opened in Hamlet under the management of Bobby’s oldest son, Allen. From that time until April 1995, Bobby’s Furniture operated with two locations. For some 12 years, the two stores worked together in helping people furnish their homes with quality furniture. In April 1995, Bobby Jordan decided to retire from the furniture business after 31 years. The Hamlet location was expanded in size and the transition was made to combine both stores into one location. Today, 50 years after Bobby Jordan started the business, Bobby’s Furniture Inc. remains dedicated to you, our customer. You are not a number with us but you are an individual. Our staff stands ready to assist you with any furniture purchase. We welcome the opportunity to serve you!

Friday, 12-22-23, was a memorable and much anticipated day. Cindy and I retired! A business, Bobby’s furniture , was started by my Dad and Mom, Bobby and Bobbie Jordan on April 2, 1964 in Rockingham. Bobby’s furniture closed its doors on Friday to be no more. The legacy that my father and mother worked so hard to make happen will stop today. The sacrifices that they made touched the lives of thousands of people People have trusted Bobby’s furniture to be their one stop furniture store for nearly 60 years. It has been a remarkable and memorable journey that we will cherish. Thank you also to the many former employees that have been a part of the Bobby’s furniture family. To my extended family , thank you for your support and sacrifices that each of you have made. Thank you for your prayers that you have given for us to run a retail business.
As I turned the key to lock the front door on Friday night for one last time , I thought of My DAD and the many times that he had done just that. I have always tried to honor him in doing the things that I thought that he would have done in running Bobby’s furniture . To tried to put myself in the shoes of the customers ,the ones that he would have tried to put first before him . You see it is the small things that make the difference sometimes. The size of a business is somewhat unimportant. It is the relationships and the friendships that make ALL the differences. Bobby’s furniture did not try to be the biggest furniture store but we always tried to do our BEST. Thanks DAD and MOM for the sacrifices you both made to support our family and the family’s of thousands of furniture customers for nearly 60 years of service.
