An unusual project for a woodworking shop.
A 100 year old Clothes Vault made in Chicago, restored and repurposed.
Green safe was free on Facebook marketplace. A little rough with no keys. But the price was right. It had been neglected by placing it outside to store lawn tools.
Stripped what paint was left, re-painted then decals from vintage safes.
Built wooden shelves and rifle Rack on the inside. For now I left the clothes rod, with a vintage post card from the manufacturer to order "fumigant" to protect your fur and wool clothing.
Maybe now it will survive another 100 years?
Final pictures are the original advertisement from the "PlyMetl Air-Tite Clothes Vault" circa 1923.
And last photo is a second clothes vault I restored in a burgundy color.
