Elk Creek Wood & Iron

Elk Creek Wood & Iron I make custom woodworking pieces with a blend of steel and live edge and reclaimed lumber. Most of my lumber comes from my Dad's farm in Southern Missouri.

I take trees that have died and, for the most part, take them to a local sawmill to have the logs cut into usable boards. Then I strip stack the wood for a minimum of one year to dry it and prevent warping. Then I just wait for the right project to come along. Occasionally I'll find really cool used lumber from an old barn or something similar and then re-purpose it into a piece of furniture. The

name for the company comes from my great grandfather who ran a sawmill. My grandfather was 1 of 9 children and ended up building his own sawmill after his kids (including my dad and his twin brother) were grown and gone. Now I have 2 boys and am continually bringing timber to a sawmill.
