Funktionhouse Urban Lumber & Furnishings Rob and Zoe found each other in 2008. Both were unhappy with their careers.

They found common ground in their creativity, concern for the environment, and passion for working with wood. Our mission: To salvage urban lumber from trees cut down in our own neighborhoods; to rescue this ‘green waste’ headed to landfills and recycle it into beautiful, usable wood for fine furniture, music instruments, wood turning, or countless other projects; to reduce the purchase of rare and endangered wood by offering comparable local exotics; to do our part for the environment, one tree at a time…

We are proud to announce a new partnership with Bole and Branches https://boleandbranches.com
With this partnership we can now provide even more unique lumber all from locally sourced trees that would otherwise be firewood or sent to the city chipper.
From milling and drying services to lumber sales and furnishings we are your source for unique and exotic species that have been planted as landscape trees and often invasive. It’s not just oak and pine growing here. From Cuban mahogany to eucalyptus, rosewood and many exotic Asian varieties. Many of which are no longer available or very limited in quality and dimensions due to over harvesting in their native environment. All sources locally from natural falls or due to age or a hazard to property.
