The Compound

The Compound My page was created to share antique, re-purposed, primitive furniture and hand made craft ideas and pictures. To have a shop where we can exchange ideas.

It's been a year since I've posted on The Compound page, and for those who have checked in, for anyone who's been wondering if my shop will ever happen, let me assure you that GOD willing, and only with His help, I do plan to get this show on the road, hopefully by this Fall.

I have plans for finishing the shop, but am currently looking for someone to help me with the overhang off the barn. If you've been to Greystone Farm, on Wilson Creek Rd., the corrugated metal lean-to- roof that they built of the barn is what I have in my head to finish the shop. If you haven't been there, they have some great veggies and pets to feed for the kids.......and the young couple that run the farm are good people who really care about the farm and the animals there. So, I recommend a visit.

I have the name of the contractor that helped them build into the barn, (as it happened, he's- "Gone Fishin", and is out of town) so, am still looking for someone to help me see this project, this dream, come to life. So, if you should know of anyone who does this kind of construction, who is willing to see my dream, and allow me to co-create and get the roof on, please, contact me. Can't open the shop until I can insulate and finish the metal building and build my dream porch to display so much now in storage.

What a beautiful rainy day! Busy repairing my birdhouse, and the bird's - nest helper....threads and string mixed with dyer lint and anything else I can find that birds might find useful in building nests. If you would like to make one, or have me make one for you, just message me at The Compound.

I am pretty sure I will be making a version of this idea. I use lots of solar lights, buy them now, when they are on sale.

Let me know if you make one, or want me to make one for you. Gotta love solar power in any project!!!

Now this is the bathroom of my dreams

I Live how they used the ladder in the bathroom to add extra storage in the baskets. What do you think?

Always love J***y, Funky, Rusty, and Re-purposed projects from Sue. She has been an inspiration for me for a lot of projects. And her story is great too. Check her out if you get the chance.

So cute! I think I need to make one for my garden.

The Compound, my passion and love of saving old things is still here. Life has a way of getting in the way of getting post out and keeping current with the work that is ONGOING!

But I hope to be better at letting you know what is happening on The Compound.

My last post was about feeding my birds and repurposing the things we have around the house. The yogurt container is now a scoop and the bird feed holder is almost done. But I got busy with other projects and trying to get The Compound open in the Spring! I know....it crept up on me, on us all. ;-)

The work bench is still here and ready to paint. The picture I posted early last month is where the problem lies. The work bench is now covered with all of things I have to organize. The tools and other wonderful things I've collected over the year have taken over. So painting will have to wait until I get more room.

Meanwhile, I would like to share some of the things I love. My design and decor may be very different than your idea of treasures, but I will share with you some of the things I love. I do hope that someday soon some of you will share your ideas and collectables with me and others on this site. After all, that is why I wanted to open a shop, to get others to share their stories, ideas and to connect with others who share my passion for meeting new people and seeing old friends.

I hope you see something that might inspire you to create and share your thoughts.

Only by the Grace of God (and I could use some prayer) to get my shop open. Patience has always been a problem for me. But I am working on that.

Have a blessed week,
Susan Behr Lewis
Struggling new business person

Enjoy the pictures, and please leave a response. Thanking you in advance.

Who says art has to be expensive. I think this is a great idea. Not only do you know where the games are, but there is the memories of those game evenings with the family, and a reminder that games, when you can find them, are a great way to connect with family and friends again. I think a deck of cards should be up on the wall as well.

BRING BACK GAME NIGHT!!!

This is a great idea to decorate the walls of a rec room or play room!
