After searching for someone to refinish this antique dresser at a reasonable cost, without success, Vicki had this dresser out at the curb. My niece saw it and stopped to pick it up. There was a conversation about refinishing it and my niece told her if she didn’t keep it herself she was gonna give it to her aunt, who refinished furniture.
My last post, I showed some stuff that had come out of my shop recently and Vicki saw the dresser in the background and contacted me.
Some of the drawers needed some TLC and new bottoms, the main cabinet needed glued and strengthened by reattaching some integral inside parts. The top was severely warped and ended up with some relief cuts and epoxy making it much flatter. I found a barrel key to operate all the locks which, miraculously, were still intact in all the drawers, added new black t-k***s and some drawer liner. The wooden casters are cleaned up and ready to go back on the dresser. The mirror has some marks and discoloration, but overall is in decent condition given the age. Wooden casters usually place a piece as being made in the late 1800 to early 1900’s, so this dresser is easily 100 years old. Purty, aint she?! Vicki thinks so, she is coming to take it back home!
