A few pics of the sheetmetal work in the trunk of the 1950 Belair that we just finished up. The original trunk floor was rusted and rotten and needed to be replaced. Because of how the suspension was, and switching to a Mustang II fuel tank, we had to raise the floor a little over an inch. We finished the trunk floor with some nice bead rolled sheet metal and added a removable panel on the front of the notch cover to access the suspension and VU4 valve block.

We have been working on this 1950 Belair Deluxe on and off in between powder jobs and finally was able to go home this past weekend. This Belair already had some work done including a SBC 350 swap, TH400 transmission and a static drop and came in to get a complete JIMENEZ BROS CUSTOMS air ride suspension installed that utilized a Mustang II style front and a 2-link in the rear. We also rebuilt a new transmission crossmember and a new exhaust routed all the way to the back with turndowns behind the bumper. To keep the noise level down inside the car, we mounted two stealth black VIAIR 480 compressors behind the front grill of the car so the sound of the compressors is drowned out by the sound of the engine running.

Along with the air suspension, the trunk space needed to be raised slightly and reskinned with new bead rolled sheet metal. On the front of the notch cover, we incorporated a removable access panel to get to the AccuAir Suspension VU4 manifold and the Air Lift Performance rear sleeve bags.

A few Harley parts recently came in to get revamped and powder coated. The wheels were originally two toned gloss black with machined faces on the spokes. We stripped them and powder coated them two toned gloss black with illusion blueberry on the faces of the spokes. We also coated the perforated brake caliper covers in illusion blueberry as well.

2000 Chevy Silverado rear end came in to be narrowed 5 inches over all.

This Chevy 10 bolt came in with some work already done 20 years ago with a Kp components 6 link kit installed. With shortening the rear 2.5 inches, the kp components kit brackets needed to be kit and modified for clearance. We cut one side of the bolt on bracket down and welded it straight to the axle. While doing this, we eliminated 1 U-bolt on each side, that had been welded to the frame (DO NOT WELD U-BOLTS).

We then cut 2.5 inches out of each side of the axle housing and the axle jig was set up, it was noticed that the axle housing was bent on the driver side. The only remedy for this was to pie cut the axle tube as close to the pumpkin as possible, tweaked it straight about a thickness of a cut off wheel and weld it back together.

Once the axle was straight, we proceeded to finish welding the ends back on.
