Running a business can be lonely as hell.

Everyone sees the wins, (we NEED to share them on socials now…) but not the late nights, the stress, the self-doubt, the weeks were nothing seems to go to plan or just the overall weight of carrying it all yourself. They say heavy is the head that wears the crown… but sometimes the crown came from the damn dollar store, broke on day one and is currently held together with duct tape.

One thing I’ve learned the hard way is that NOBODY will ever be as invested in your business as you are. And that’s okay.

So let’s show some love to the small business owners out there. If you’re in the trenches right now, just know you’re not alone. We’re all figuring it out as we go and some of us may never.

And if you ever need to talk shop, vent, celebrate a win, or complain about a loss, my DMs are open.

I’ve got STUFF on STUFF on STUFF and it all needs to be loaded into a STUFF carrier and moved across country.

As much as I’m stoked to be taking my talents to Phoenix, Az, I’m tempted to call the whole thing off just so I don’t have to move all this STUFF.

Change an outlet like a pro.

I’m always amazed by how many people are afraid to change their own outlets. I hope this helps you make that outlet your bitch.

PSA:
When I did electrical we mainly worked in grocery stores and more often than not we couldn’t turn the power off so I became accustomed to working live. I do not suggest it!

Watch your back!

This was a quick little project and those can often be the most rewarding. I sanded the whole piece down starting with 80grit-180. Then applied a wood conditioner. Once dry just one coat of Early American stain followed by an oil based poly. 3 coats, sanded in-between each. It’s that easy to bring an old piece of furniture back to life!

Now I can focus on finding these two fools my gal is secretly in love with!

Danish Oil has always been a go to finish for me. Big or small. I’ve even used it on table tops. What’s cool about that is I’ve had tables I made for a client that they caused some damage too. Because of this finish, I just went to their home, sanded it and applied another coat of oil. Done.

PLUS you can get this oil in different colors and at almost any hardware store.

It’s DONE!

Not much of a reveal I know… but it’s a glorified cutting board at the end of the day so it’s plenty revealed.

I went with a super subtle design feature which lets you know someone made it. I tend to over complicate my designs which usually results in making the “work” part of the project a nightmare. Since this was just a baby step for me to get back in the shop I decided to keep it simple.

Hopefully you learned something or at the very least enjoyed watching me pretend I know what im doing.

Thanks to social media a lot of people looking to start woodworking think they need all these really cool, and expensive, tools that see on here. That’s just not the case.

Buy what you can afford. Make do with what you have. The most important part of woodworking is the actual wood working part. So just start creating. Nice tools will come in time.

Part 2 - Making a Chess Board

This is the quickest step and the most rewarding. After a couple cuts on the table saw you immediately get to see your chess board come to life.

And now that I have a good idea on what the final product will look like I can’t wait for these glue to set up so I can move on to then next steps.

Stay tuned for part 3 where I square it, flatten it and frame it.

No need to thank me… it’s my honor

The fact that I can turn this feature off makes it even more annoying to me. Who asked for this!?

Im all for saving the environment and love my Ford Bronco but come on. There has to be a better way!

Also, let’s stop dropping bombs. Thank you. Make America F*k Again!
