As stated by one of our costume judges tonight: “ This is a very hard decision and everyone is a winner in my book.”

It was a very close race expressed by all of our judging panels selected from the Elks Lodge membership, but here are this years overall winners:

Congratulations to all and thank you to all who participated!!

Wow, what an amazing & fun evening!

I can’t say thanks enough to everyone who attended and assisted with tonight‘s trunk or treat. I greatly appreciate all who donated candy, decorated and offered their trunks for treating as well as contributing the delicious chili & other treats. Congratulations to all of our chili contest winners!

I heard many many compliments about all of the amazing and creative costumes as well as the creatively decorated trunks. By the looks of it, I think a good time was had by all.

We have an amazing pack and we all helped where needed tonight. On behalf of the Elks, we send our sincerest thanks to Pack 5 for their services with putting away all of the tables and chairs around the pavilion as well as dumping & storing all of the trash cans.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

ALTON – The National Great Rivers Museum invites cub scouts to create their own engineering marvels at Cub Scout Build-a-thon on Saturday July 11th from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Scouts will construct their own catapults and see how far it can send an object soaring through the air. They will build bridges and test if their creation can support weight. Boys will send rockets flying through the air and save an egg from breaking after the long drop from atop Melvin Price Locks and Dam. At the end of the day, your scout will be well on their way to completing the Engineering Activities Badge!

The cost for this event is $5 per scout. Siblings are welcome but should be included in the reservation to ensure their participation in the activities. Get your den together and reserve your spots today by calling (618) 462-6979.

This program is made possible by the Meeting of the Rivers Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the education and preservation of rivers. The National Great Rivers Museum is located off River Heritage Parkway (IL Hwy 143) at #2 Lock & Dam Way, East Alton, IL 62024, adjacent to Melvin Price Locks & Dam. The museum is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and has free admission and tours of the locks and dam.
