The Arrowhead Chapter was thrilled to be visited by another hiker who finished hiking the North Country Trail last week! Arthur ‘Tic Toc’ Smolinski finished his hike in Grand Rapids on August 26th!

Fires in Northern Minnesota also necessitated a slight change in itinerary, but he was able to get back on trail to finish his journey in our area!

Tic Toc has thru-hiked multiple long-distance trails and has over 15,000 miles of hiking under his belt! Congratulations to Tic Toc on this amazing accomplishment!

The Arrowhead Chapter was thrilled to be able to celebrate Tara Atkinson’s completion of the entire North Country Trail on Wednesday! Minnesota isn’t typically the "finishing" point for the NCT, but when Tara reached out to us and asked if we cared to celebrate her accomplishment with her, we showed up in awe!

Tara hiked the eastern half of the trail last year and finished the western half this year! Fires in northern Minnesota caused her to alter hiking plans, but she made it back this week to finish her journey in Grand Rapids!

Tara is an accomplished long-distance hiker, with over 14,000 miles of hiked trail! Congratulations, Tara on this incredible achievement!

A little delayed in getting the photos posted, but for our monthly hike in August we did an Ice Cream (Dilly Bars!) Social followed by an Urban hike in the NCTA Trail Town of Grand Rapids, MN, on Friday evening, August 14th! Visit Grand Rapids We went more than a mile and a half to the Itasca County Fair grounds, and while half the crew hiked back to our starting point at the Itasca County Family YMCA, half of our crew opted to take a ride in a goMARTI van back to the start. 😉 Thanks to the folks who came out to join me, and check our Events page for the next monthly hike announcement, if you care to join us!
