Was working on a customer’s boat in the State Park/Huddleston area. He had ton’s of water in gas tank and I was trying to get his Suzuki 300 HP engine going after getting the tank drained and good gas going through the system. So had taken the boat out for a run and was coming back to the dock and he said, there is a duck! I natutally looked overboard and seen a male duck swimming behind. Normal stuff right? Lol Then actually looked ON the boat and must have been our good luck charm. She stayed long enough to let me get a few pictures and short video and also tell me to get this boat fixed pronto! 🤣 Man what a perfect place to live and make a living! 4 Stroke outboard timing belt replacement.. This is a Yamaha and happens to be an “interference” engine. This means if this belt breaks, you engine will be ruined. I haven’t seen one break or stretch to this point but it is a “serviceable” part. Most mfgrs recommend changed in 750-1000 hours or a hard replacement every 5 years regardless of how it looks. So glad this turned out... water in the bilge, over time, rusted the flywheel and ended up breaking a few teeth on the flywheel which meant the starter would not engage. Had to pull the engine to get the flywheel off for replacement.

Man, it’s been one heck of a summer to say the least. Lol I hope everyone has enjoyed their time on the lake and know all the mechanics and shops on the lake have been doing their best to keep up.
