I got the table primed and cleaned off the saws that I'm going to use to either paint or put decoupage paper on. I also put several coats of mod podge on them because there was rust that I could not remove.

All right, I don't feel bad about painting this piece. I know several people have commented on it but this was very thin paper like veneer on here and even using a 180 grit. Just going over it lightly. You could see that it was wearing through on the edges. It's made in China in 1999, so it's not like it's an antique. There were some definite orange stains that had seeped through the other finish and some areas where the veneer was starting to lift in the center. So again I'm not going to feel bad about painting over this. If it would have been a better quality veneer and better quality piece, I would have tried to save it, but as I said, the stickers say it was made in 1999 in China

I am not quite sure what to do. This is what the inlay looks like. Personally I don't like it. I don't think it matches because there's two different color pieces of wood that surrounds it. The legs aren't as fancy as the top of the table if that makes sense. My plan was to paint it and do a decoupage paper on top of it.

What are your thoughts?

This is the next project that I'm going to work on. If the top wasn't so damaged I would try to refinish the design, but there are deep gouges in there and some of the wood underneath the veneer is already showing through. I do have an idea for it but as always plans change. We'll see what happens when I strip this

I just finished this antique sewing cabinet turned into a wine bar. It was in pretty rough shape. When I got it. It had been left out in a barn for many years. I did chemically strip the remaining finish off the cabinet. I removed all the hardware, cleaned that up and spray painted that with hammered black.

Someone at some point had attempted to add shelving to the inside of the cabinet so I removed all that and replaced it with new shelving, a wine rack, and holders for wine glasses. Glasses. I used a combination of two different stains. The trim of the dresser since the wood would not accept the staying evenly. I did use truly black from on the inside and rubbed that off quickly because I did not want it to cover the beautiful grain of the wood.

I then put several coats of polyurethane over the whole piece, lightly standing in between each coat before applying another coat.

I have better things today to do than start my morning at 5:00 a.m. with a phishing scam from Microsoft. It took me an hour and a half to get a hold of someone because Microsoft's website is really not user friendly. I couldn't find a phone number for the company and kept getting a chat but that said she was who human but really not quite sure.

I finally googled Microsoft and figured out how to work their website to get to a human being. Of course it took me several tries through the contact us to finally get it to show the right page. But thankfully I canceled any subscription that was in my name and also changed all my passwords.

I am calling it a day. I've been up for the past 12 hours and I was able to get a small chest done. Attach the wood for the shelf and screw the wine rack into the bottom of the new sewing table. I also put the wine glass holders in. Tomorrow. I will assemble the rest of the piece and touch up some areas that need a little bit of touching up with the wine rack.

Just as I was leaving, my package arrived with the wood wine glass holders in it. At least I got to start putting the hardware back on this old sewing cabinet.

I will hopefully get it finished by tomorrow.🤞

I finished this little chest. I like the flowers I added to the front. I do wish the lettering was bigger, but it is what I had to work with. I added stencils to the top to tie it in with the front of the chest.

I also added some cute side handles.

Added some stencils to the side. Not sure if I want to do more.
