More of a picture book with deluxe captions than a lot of in-depth history, “Modern Americana” will have you primed for the antique malls. The photographs are great and the captions are witty. Looking through the presentation, one can clearly see the confluence of rustic and vintage. In stock.

This circa 1930 original oil painting by acclaimed artist and illustrator, John Newton Howitt (1885-1958), is a wonderful example of the golden age of American sporting art. Signed lower right. Image measures 24 x 25 in. Frame measures 30 ½ × 31 ½ in. A very rare opportunity.

Our Miniature Wood Duck Drake c. 1930 by A. Elmer Crowell (1862-1952), of East Harwich, MA,
measures 41/4 in. long and is a particularly well done, bright upright example with the rectangular stamp on the underside. Originally from the Everett Banfield Davenport Collection, acquired directly from Elmer Crowell, it retains bright colors, having been kept out of direct sunlight. Original paint with very minimal wear. The Crowell Wood Ducks are among the most coveted of his works.
