UF Solar Decathlon Team

UF Solar Decathlon Team Design-Build project with University of Florida, National University of Singapore, and Santa Fe College for the U.S.D.O.E

The University of Florida has partnered with Santa Fe College and the University of Singapore to enter in to the Solar Decathlon, an international collegiate competition that challenges teams to design, build, and operate a solar-operated home. We are also involving Habitat for Humanity in an effort to donate the home to a family after the competition. The Solar Decathlon aims to educate the publi

c about cost-effective and environmental benefits associated with green energy products and smart design solutions. It also provides students with a unique experience that will encourage sustainability practices when entering the work force. The competition will take place on October 8th to October 18th 2015, in Irvine County, California. As all teams are student run, the Solar Decathlon is heavily dependent on
corporate and private sponsorship opportunities. We are still in the beginning phase of our journey and have limited sponsors at the moment. Companies that have already agreed to participate include Fiat and Bosch. All funds go through the University of Florida Foundation which is a non-profit organization. We are truly grateful to have another opportunity to become involved with the community and hope that you will join us. Please support our team and contact us for any questions or concerns.

The U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2015 team from University of Florida, National University of Singapore, and Santa Fe College has set out to design and build a house that, in its own words, “basks in the sun.” And its Solar Living House does exactly that.

Make sure to join us all day tomorrow celebrating Solar Living Day!

Start off the day by grabbing one of our free laser cut giveaways at Turlington, or Plaza of the Americas from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm!

We will have a gallery exhibit in the Architecture Atrium from 4:00-6:00 pm and then have dinner! Please bring 5$ for a delicious meal prepared by our team!

Finally, end the day by watching Coast Modern- an independent documentary with us in the Architecture atrium at 8:00 pm!
