A Room That Tells His Story

A personal office should feel just that—personal.

For this pilot’s office, aviation became part of the design through collected photographs, memorabilia and pieces gathered over a career in the air. Rather than creating a “themed” room, we allowed those meaningful objects to become the artwork and character of the space.

Rich wood, warm leather, aged brass and a quiet neutral palette give the room a classic, masculine foundation, while the aviation collection makes it entirely his own.

October at the Table

October is when I start warming things up—layering aged metals, natural textures, candlelight and the colors of the season.

For a fall table, you don’t necessarily need traditional seasonal décor. Start with pieces that already have character: an old vessel, woven texture, pewter or silver, a little bamboo, and something gathered from nature. Then add just a few seasonal touches.

The mix of polished and worn, refined and rustic is what keeps a table feeling collected rather than decorated.

Let the season come through in texture and color rather than theme. It creates a table that can carry you beautifully through October and well into November.

THE FRIDAY STUDY | Cumberland Island

A glimpse of an interior that has stayed with me.

Deep wood tones, worn leather, velvet, plaid, old books and layers of pattern—rooms that feel as though they have evolved over generations rather than being decorated all at once.

What I love most is the confidence of the mix. Nothing is too perfect. Color is rich, furnishings have character, and age is something to be celebrated rather than disguised.
