2. Remove excess pillows. Summer rooms usually feel better slightly under-styled instead of overly layered.

3. Trade heavy throw blankets for linen or lightweight cotton draped casually over a chair or sofa arm.

4. Store away heavy dark coffee table books and bring out art, travel, garden, or architecture books in lighter tones.
