From a warped and twisted slab of walnut, to a beautiful bar top built to last a lifetime! This Harley Davidson themed bar top was a fun project from start to finish. Built from solid black walnut, shaped and finished by hand, with custom window notches and an inlaid Harley Davidson logo to tie it all together. A lot of time and attention went into getting the fit, details, and finish just right, and seeing it installed and in its final home made it all worth it! This maple spent the last several years of it’s life in pretty rough shape. As you can see there was a significant void in the trunk that compromised the structural integrity of the tree, and what you can see is probably the least of it. Normally this tree would have eventually fallen and rotted to nothing, or been taken down and run through a chipper/ tub grinder. I decided to give it new life. Now, what was once considered a dangerous defect is now the focal point of a beautiful piece of art, designed to last a lifetime of enjoyment. Once you begin to see problems as possibilities, everything changes for the better.

Sometimes you will start a project, not knowing where you intend to end up with it. Sometimes you build a top long before you decide on legs or a base. I went a little crazy with this one for experemental purposes but I think she turned out beautiful! Let me know what you think!
