Last week, the Children’s Alliance gathered for our Annual Membership Meeting to celebrate another year of advocacy and partnership on behalf of Kentucky’s children and families.

During the meeting, we were proud to recognize our legislative partners with the Champion for Children Award, honor the lasting contributions of Jill Seyfred and Melinda Ryles-Smith as they prepare for retirement, and hold elections for the upcoming fiscal year’s Board and Committee leadership.

Thank you to all of the members and partners who joined us and continue to lend their voice to this work!

The Children’s Alliance thanks Representative Moser and Representative Fleming for their leadership in advancing the MCO Audits and Appeals Bill within HB 2: ensuring greater transparency, accountability, and fairness for providers across Kentucky.

We would also like to thank Rep. Moser for her work on additional legislation impacting our members:

• HB 459 – strengthens supports for behavioral health services, helping providers deliver care more effectively to children and families.
• HB 470 – extends the registration deadline for alcohol and drug peer support specialists to January 1, 2027, providing trained peer specialists more time to become fully registered while ensuring access to high-quality recovery services and compliance with Medicaid requirements.
• HB 176 – updates regulations for mental health service providers, creating clearer guidelines for care delivery and supporting workforce stability.
