This is one of two dressers that I built a few years ago. I built the pair of dressers for my two older children (youngest wasn't born yet). These dressers are sort of what piqued my interest in woodworking and where the spark was lit.

One day a few years ago, Caitlin wanted to use my employee discount and buy a couple dressers from the local furniture manufacturer I was working for at the time. I thought for only a few seconds and said, "absolutely not, are we spending our hard earned money on something from there". I had spent quite a bit of time on those exact assembly lines designing automation equipment for them. This meant I knew how those dressers were built and the quality of them.

So like any smart DIYer I spent probably the same amount of money 💰 and bought some raw materials and a few tools to build the dressers myself. These dressers were my very first woodworking project; they may not be the fanciest and they're definitely not perfect, but they are solid and will likely last for my children's lives.

This is an old chest that I refinished. Originally made by the Crescent Furniture company in Warren, PA and sold by Gantert Brothers in LaCrosse, WI. The case is painted in "aged marble" and the drawer faces are stained with Minwax Jacobian penetrating stain and then clear coated with Minwax Polyurethane. The look was completed with some "crystal" drawer pulls.
