We take care of all of this for you, but some do not. Please be aware of these things as they will avoid costly issues.

A DFW office manager once had cubicles delivered to a building with a freight elevator that was two inches too narrow for the panels.

The furniture sat in the lobby for three days while the building coordinated an alternate access plan. In an example like this, a re-delivery or delay can easily run into the hundreds to low thousands of dollars depending on labor and rescheduling — an entirely avoidable cost.

Before you schedule any office furniture delivery, confirm three things: freight elevator dimensions, loading dock access hours, and whether the building requires a certificate of insurance from the delivery crew. None of these are things furniture vendors can control once the truck shows up — they have to be checked in advance.

It's a boring checklist. It's also the difference between a smooth Tuesday and a very expensive Tuesday.

What's the worst delivery access problem you've run into?

Not all "used furniture" is the same deal.

A 5-year-old panel system from a company that just moved offices is a different purchase than furniture that's been sitting in a warehouse getting knocked around for a decade. Age isn't the number that matters — condition, panel fabric wear, and whether the electrical/data components still work are.

Here's the quick way to think about it: new furniture makes sense when you need an exact brand match, a specific warranty, or a very particular finish for a client-facing space. Used or refurbished makes sense for almost everything else — back offices, call centers, expansion seats, and any project where "commercial-grade and functional" matters more than "brand new."

The mistake we see most: businesses assume "used" automatically means "cheap and risky," so they overpay for new furniture they didn't need to buy, when used would have worked great for their needs.

Save this before your next furniture decision.
