We went mobile earlier this week and the client documented some of the process. This is pretty typical as to what happens although I don’t often cut logs 21’ long. I normally advise clients if they don’t need a 21’ board then don’t mess with a 21’ log. They are a lot heavier than 8,10,12,or 16’ logs/boards. Enjoy!

I’ve been focusing on the outside tasks associated with the move to Culpeper. The sawmill is portable and didn’t really miss a beat. But the workshop was another story. I needed to setup a temporary workshop until the barn gets built. Today I got most everything setup and used most of the tools. I needed to wire 220 volt outlets for the dust collector and the table saw and run a few 110 volt outlets for everything else. I still have a couple of extension cords but the lights no longer dim whenever I use tools. Worked on a couple of projects that needed the CNC laser, a router, the table saw, the dust collector, the miter saw, the planer, the band saw, and the disk sander! Feels good to have the shop up and being productive!

Bona Terra LLC giving a talk on native plants and seed collection. The fence was made 10 years ago with trees that were taken down by VDOT to make room for a new bridge.

We are still in business! We have relocated to Culpeper, VA and still cover all the same areas with the mobile sawmill that we did before the move.

Many of you saw the posting on FB advertising a sawmill for sale. FYI- that was our initial sawmill that was rarely being used. It was time for it to bless someone else like it did us. We still have the Woodmizer LT-40 Wide hydraulic sawmill. Shown here cutting a cedar root ball that is planned to be a base for a glass topped table (as it sits). Stay tuned for the final product on that.

Playing around with the CNC during my recuperation period. I’m getting better and have a greater understanding. I’m happy with this eagle as my first 3D carving. I can only get better from here!

Squeezing into an alley in DC to cut up some urban lumber. It is rare that we don’t hit some foreign objects embedded into urban lumber and today was no exception! Although this was the first time I’ve ever hit a brake pad embedded into the log! There is one slab of walnut that exposed seven (7) nails. Of course that blade was toasted, but it was able to make a valuable board just the same.
