Sweet Potato Dumplings

3 1/2 cups cubed sweet potatoes
water
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup milk
1 cup sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 Tbsp butter

Dumplings
2 cups flour
1/3 crisco
1/2 cup cold water
*Note
You can buy frozen dumplings.

Dumplings Directions
In a large mixing bowl add flour. Cut in crisco. Next add water. Stir to combine. Turn out on floured surface. Gently knead. Roll out a rectangle about 1/8 thick. Cut into 1 inch square.

Directions
In a 4 1/2 qt pan add sweet potatoes, salt and enough water to cover potatoes. Bring to a boil. Slowly add dumplings one at a time. Lower heat to a simmer. Slowly stir. You do not want to break up the dumplings. Add milk, butter, sugar, and cinnamon. * Note cinnamon will blend better if mixed with sugar before adding.
Depending on your sweet potatoes you may need to add more water. Occasionally stir to prevent sticking. Cook until potatoes and dumplings are tender. Add vanilla. Ready to serve warm!
