After many years in the appliance repair industry and about 7 years of service in Florence, I am hanging up the tool bag and figuratively closing the doors on the appliance repair service. Thank you all who supported me here in Oregon. It really was a good experience getting to know the hard working people who run the restaurants on the coast. I wish each one of you the best, and will see you around town no doubt . You can always call me if you need some advice, or want to catch a beer or something.
Sincerely Dan.

Sometimes it is best to bid an old flattop, cooler or ancient piece of kitchen equipment farewell. I really love repairing and solving equipment issues, but with experience, have learned to discern when replacing is just the right choice. Sometimes when you go in to repair one broken part, unbeknownst to us, another may be failing or crumbling, which leads to more continued repair and unexpected expense than originally thought. So please know, that when I suggest replacing a unit, that I do feel that it is the best choice for you and your business. When it comes down to this step, I am happy to help you select a decent brand and replacement that makes sense for your set up.
At your service,
Dan Hankins

These simple inexpensive safety tips may save you a real mess, some headaches and plenty of $’s! .

BIG Reminder: Don’t forget to empty the grease trap in your flattop griddles DAILY! It only takes a minute and can prevent pesky, if not catastrophic grease fires.

Also, keep a few cans of some Fire Gone handy. They can put out a small fire swiftly without creating a huge mess. They’re only about ten bucks at Phil's Saw Shop! Of course, keep your team trained on safety equipment and keep it inspected. But you may not always have to reach for the big extinguisher if something small flares up.

Easy clean up. Inexpensive safety back up for business, home and car.

ALSO: NEVER ever try to put a grease fire out with water!

Sincerely,
Dan

Hi friends. Here's a tip to share, because I run into this scenario all too often. When buying new equipment, if you haven't heard of the brand name, be careful. It might look good and it might be cheap but please remember, cheap and shiny isn't always the way to go. Feel free to give me a call before you decide on buying new because sometimes buying parts for new off-brand equipment are almost impossible to find.

Tip for coolers that aren't too cool.
If your cooler is running about 10 degrees too warm it's possible the evaporator coil is iced up. You can defrost the unit by removing everything inside, then unplug it and block the door open for at least 24 hours. Then plug it back in and monitor the temperature. If the temperature is ok it may have been a one time problem (maybe the door was left open).
If the problem returns, call me and I will diagnose the cause.

Hi, I just wanted to give my clients and potential clients some background on my experience in this field. Back in the eighties I was repairing cars, eventually becoming an ASE certified world class technician. That requires being master certified auto, heavy truck and collision repair tech. A lot of that mechanical & refrigeration knowledge prepped me for what was to come.
Then in the late nineties got into the commercial restaurant equipment service industry. Starting with Coffee and beverage equipment service. After a job change to Service solutions group about 13 years ago, I gained much experience through factory training and running thousands of service calls at restaurants throughout southern California. Servicing cooking equipment and refrigeration.
I knew for years I would end up here in Oregon as my family was from the Cottage Grove/Eugene area long before I was born, and some are still around. I love Florence and all of Oregon and Thankful to be here and have great Clients.

Tis the season of giving and thank you to those who have given me referrals in recent weeks. Word of mouth from happy customers is the best advertising. Thank you for those who have passed the word about my services.

During the winter months restaurants on the coast tend to slow down, this may be a good time to tackle some of those bigger projects, one of them being deep cleaning. This is important for fire safety as well as sanitation reasons. I know its not easy to clean behind and under some appliances if they are hard to move. Grills, fryers and ovens may not have wheels or quick disconnect gas lines making them especially hard to clean. Use a flashlight to inspect under and behind appliances. Excess grease or dust can be a fire hazard and impact performance of cooking equipment and refrigeration. I can help you with the moving of appliances and cleaning too.
During December and January; if you call me for cleaning or moving appliances I will waive all travel charges!
Happy Holidays. Dan.
