Today I was introduced to B&W Market in Copenhagen. This is a large, industrial warehouse offering probably the widest range of furniture and collectibles you’ll find in the city..

The market has been operating for over 30 years and features 10 independent vendors. Several of them were working their stalls today and I really enjoyed learning a little bit about some of the unusual pieces there. I found quite an array of Danish vintage furniture designs. Most of the pieces come from the 20th century -- lamps, interior pieces, interesting chairs, chests of drawers and, of course, plenty of Royal Copenhagen.

My favorite? The Frost Wishbone Mute "Waiter" or "Servant" (here in the U.S. we call it a coat rack).

Inspired by tree trunks and branches, it is beautifully crafted from stainless steel with powder-coated parts. This one is vintage but they are still manufactured today in a variety of finishes, including copper.

Hello, Friends! I am currently in Copenhagen visiting my grandchildren. Over the weekend, I managed to find a few treasures at one of the many pop up flea markets that occur throughout the city.

Here are a few of my flea market finds. Lucky for me, my brother joined me on this trip and tagged along to help haul things back to the car ;)

We finished our hunt for treasure with an authentic Danish polser, served the way the locals like it with caramelized onions, remoulade, and pickles. Should you ever come to Denmark and have the chance to eat a Danish polser, do it and have them load it up! You will never be content with an Oscar Meyer hot dog again.

This is the only time I have ever needed actual Danish currency to purchase something. Denmark is basically a cashless country. Mobile Pay is the country's direct pay system, similar to Venmo. Mobile Pay works in Denmark, Finland and Greenland. You must have a Danish or Greenlandic phone #, a Danish bank, and a Danish CPR number (social security #) to acquire Mobile Pay. A CPR # is a necessity to live here - it is connected to everything you do.

It was a fun day. Flea markets like this one pop up all over Copenhagen in public spaces, parks, and parking lots. A few are year round. Google, FB and Instagram are your friend - there are many online groups that list what's happening every weekend. If you are planning a trip here, feel free to reach out to me and I will share with you some of the resources I use.

The biggest challenge is always how to get something home. US tariffs make it pretty much impossible to ship anything. Unfortunately, if it won't fit into a suitcase, it doesn't make the cut. I still have paintings from my last haul stored under the guest bed at my daughter's home as I can't find a suitcase quite big enough to fit them in ... yet ;)
