Pioneer Chairs is a small family business in rural New Hampshire that handcrafts folding chairs and hassocks, made with high-quality hardwoods and rope. All furniture pieces are crafted in a 3-story traditional post & beam workshop, built in 2011 with the help of family, friends and neighbors. Pioneer Chairs have been a hit at New England craft fairs and have also been featured in The New Yorker &
InStyle Magazines and in Montreal's La Presse, Canada's top-selling French newspaper. There is a passion for carpentry and building in the family that runs in the blood as, there are builders on both sides of the family from Edinburgh, Scotland to Altoona, Pennsylvania. Many of the tools used in chair production/assembly are those of their grandfathers and great grandfathers. The selected hardwoods are sustainable, FSC-certified, and chosen with assistance from a trusted, local lumbar company to ensure an excellent finished product.
