A special thank you to Tyler Jones and his team for including us in the Manafest festivities Thursday morning. I was very honored and privileged to be able to have our Fitzgerald Family Garden be a part of Manafest as part of the morning prayer walk. Mama and I share a common goal to - Feed our Community. I was able to tell the group about our vision for the garden and share the progress that we have made. Our goal is to be a sustainable year round source of fresh produce for our food bank at the Christian Kitchen and for those in our community that don't always have the means to obtain fresh vegetables. We still have a lot of work to do and I hope that those who came, were able to take away a small understanding of the potential that our garden has in this community and a willingness to help us reach that potential. If you would like to volunteer at the garden, or have a small plot or raised box for your own planting, please contact me at 229-325-6548 or come by The Hanging Basket at 113 Colony Dr and sign up. So come on by and let's start growing!

Does anyone know anyone that does small garden plots. I need someone that can come set some rows for us at the Garden. The spot has been harrowed, but we need rows set. I will gladly pay someone to do this for us.

Thank you Gina Wiggins and Laura Wiggins Norris for the donations to our Community Garden project. This will help move us forward a little more towards our goal of feeding our community.

With the planting of our Plum and Apple tree and the blueberry bushes, we hope to create an orchard that one day will help feed our community. This has been our goal- FEED OUR COMMUNITY -- ever since we started working on the garden a few years ago. Even though we are a farming community, we still have too many that do not have access to fresh fruits and vegetables. With your help we can meet this goal. At this time I need help planting and weeding. I will supply the plants unless you have some you'd like to donate. If you would like to help but can't do the physical work, donations can be made to the garden at The Hanging Basket Nursery at 113 Colony Dr or at The Depot at 116 N Johnston St, both in Fitzgerald. If you'd like to help us plant, or would like a spot to grow for yourself, contact me at the nursery or call me at 239-325-6548.

Our Girl Scouts have added an Anna apple tree to the garden today to go with the Baron plum they planted last year. And we hope to add some blueberry bushes soon. They also harvested and shared with each other some yellow Squash that we have grown. The potatoes and cabbage are not quite ready so we left them to harvest another day. 🥰♥️.

These girls are awesome! They got out here today and planted, squash, cucumber and peppers today. They also harvested from our first rows of zucchini and yellow squash. They really have worked hard this year. We had an awesome potato harvest and are planning again after Mr. Hess reset our rows. I've so very proud of the work the girls are doing to grow these vegetables and help feed others in our community. Of which I'm proud to say that 20+ families enjoyed the potatoes that were harvested and we were able to donate 2 bushels to the Christian Kitchen. Like I said these girls are awesome!❤️❤️
