Final photos of this space - for now!

We have plans to do something cool with the upper part of the wall. Either bookcases or floating shelves and some dramatic wallpaper or paint, and cool lighting.

What do you think?

Also someday, hopefully soon, an 8 foot handmade dining table to gather around with our friends.

Super glad this project is complete!

Let the countertop-ing begin!

This is 6/4 rough-milled walnut. I chose to make the 12’ long x 19 1/4” deep countertop in two pieces to make installation and fabrication a little easier.  

Tonight, layout, board selection, and edge trimming were the goals.  Mission Accomplished!

Tomorrow will be the fun part: planing and making everything buttery smooth!

No sanding, no glue, no clamps.  

Straight off the table saw, router table, and planer.  

Dimensionally identical to within about 1/128”.  

In other words, with them stacked like this, even with a little tear out from the router table, you can’t feel any difference from edge to edge moving from the top of the stack to the bottom.

THAT was rewarding.

I realized this week that I’ve neglected to share on this part of the socialverse some of my projects.

Tables and furniture are something that I truly enjoy making.

This table and bench were was especially cool to work on, because it was for a good friend and his family.

I love knowing they sit around it daily and it’s now and heirloom piece for his family!

Pretty cool…

Lots of progress today on our built-in lower cabinets for our dining room. Tomorrow I’ll add the counter-top supports, toe-kick, back nailers, and add some leg support underneath. Then, on to face frames, doors, and a solid 6/4 walnut counter top.

What a great start to the weekend! I spent a couple of hours shopping for some hardwood and plywood lumber for a cabinet project for our dining room. Progress pics coming soon!

I also picked up some absolutely gorgeous walnut that will soon become shelves for the one and only .

At the same time, I am working on another project for my buddy and coworker Caleb Evans and his lovely wife Liz.

There will be lots going on in the next week and I am so happy to be back at it in the shop!

Check out the new tool addition!!

This beast of a machine is a thickness planer. It is used to cut wood down to very accurate thicknesses while also leaving the material exactly parallel on the opposite face. More coming on this in the next couple of days.

I’M BACK!

After taking time away from the shop and from creative woodworking, I am picking the chisels back up!

For anyone not familiar with my work, I LOVE using solid hardwood to make furniture and home decor. I’ve completed some pretty fun projects but one of my absolute favorites was a pedestal Walnut table and bench. During that project, I found a centralized purpose in my woodworking which is the love of providing quality, high-end furniture that brings people together.

Tool organization!!😁😁

I have spent the last week or so taking on some much needed shop organization projects. Tonight’s project: Router Bit and Barrel Sanding storage. Long way to go here but it is amazing how much small projects like this perk up the shop!
