~ The Hearths of West Coast Ireland ~
For my fellow Fire builders, tenders and lovers~ This ones for you!! π₯
Most everywhere I went had a fireplace or woodstove, and you could tell how important this central feature was (and still is) to the people of this land.
Fire is an important part of my life, and since I was unable to make one of my own during my the course of my trip, it was extra comforting to see so many everywhere I went.
From pubs to medival castles, from museums to local restaurants. Some were going, and some were not, but it was an honor to see where the Irish people gathered close to share stories or take in the warmth with one another.
The hearth, a central place to connect or meditate, celebrate, cook some food or just get warm. Seeing them everywhere I went was truly a heartwarming experience. I'm grateful to have captured this wonderful piece of Ireland.
The only one I didn't catch on my travels was in Moyasta at a local pub. I went in without my camera and only have the memory of an older great haired fisherman in his big black books and yellow rain slicker standing right in front of the fire with drink in hand , warming his bones, wishing me a safe trip with a smile~
Thank you, Ireland, for your fire~
