The Painted Mill opened its doors in April 2014, taking its very first steps toward becoming something truly special. What started as a leap of faith quickly became a place where creativity, community, and a little bit of chaos came together in the best way.

From those early days to now… look how far we’ve come. ✨

There was this. 💛

Back in April 2014, this is what The Painted Mill looked like when it all began. Just a building full of potential, a big vision, and a whole lot of heart.

No crowds yet.
No bustling market weekends.
Just the beginning of something we hoped would grow.

And grow it did…

✨ Today, that same building is filled with creativity, small businesses, laughter, and thousands of shoppers who have walked through our doors over the last 12 years.

It’s hard to believe this is where it all started—but we wouldn’t change a thing.

This April, as we celebrate our 12 Year Anniversary, we’re taking a moment to look back at where we began… and everything that came after.

Because every great story has a starting point—
and this one? It started right here.

Over 150 years of stories right here at 1119 Main Street.

📜 The earliest deed we uncovered dates back to 1873.

At that time, this land was part of a much larger tract—about 65 acres that reflected Fallston’s deep agricultural roots.

Over the years, the property changed hands in ways that feel very human:
• In 1893, it sold for just $100
• By 1904, it returned to the original owner after a loan default—then sold again for $110

Life happened here. Success, struggle, second chances.

🏚️ In 1920, the building we now know as The Painted Mill was constructed.

🌾 In 1946, the parcel we sit on today was officially divided and sold for $10—creating the footprint we still call home.

Since 1972, every transfer of this property has taken place through family estates… quietly passed down through generations.

And now… here we are.

✨ This April, as we celebrate 12 years of The Painted Mill, we invite you to take a Walk Through History with us.

Because this isn’t just a building…
it’s a legacy.
