Over 50 years later these are the knots I'm tying.

I've been (luckily) getting along fine with my '91 Chevy "sport" window van I bought in '99. It has a finished interior for passengers but I discarded the rear seats making it perfect for clean deliveries. I'm not anywhere ready to retire but I've had concerns on the near future and how much longer the van will last. (odometer quit several years ago, an estimated 200K miles) I stumbled into this rare find from a longtime friend. An '02 unfinished utility van, rusty body but only 76,000 miles. (my '91 is far more rusty). Anyway, what I've been leading up to, this was a major upgrade, airbags and all... When I got in to drive it away, it was hot and I couldn't find the window control buttons! I even looked at the dash!!! What the ? When I called out to Butch, "how do I roll down the windows?" Sharon stepped over and showed me... My 70th birthday and our shared 50th wedding anniversary present. Very lucky, Bucky

Kroehler chairs are beautiful midcentury pieces, but their spring units are usually the first thing to give out. I’ve had a few lose their support over the years, so I put together this video to show you how I reinforce the springs without removing the drop-in unit. It’s a simple fix that can bring your chair back to life.

Part 1 of 2 — Kroehler chairs are known for their stylish mid-century design—but also for their notorious spring failures. If a chair has lost its support du...

Just finished upholstering this weight bench in vinyl and shared one of my favorite tricks for getting those lines sharp along the edges. The foam and cover came together clean, and I’m happy with how it turned out.

If you’ve ever fought with vinyl or wanted better results on projects like this, the new YouTube video walks through the whole process.

I’m recovering a weight bench in vinyl and sharing one of my go-to tips for getting clean, straight edges on the foam and cover. If you're new to upholstery ...

I just finished upholstering a vintage Tell City captain’s chair from circa 1960 using traditional cotton padding—no foam here. Patrick Cassidy, who also happens to be the brother-in-law of my co-producer, Brandon Hylton, did the excellent refinishing. Thanks to Brandon for stepping behind the camera and helping make the day go smoothly so I could focus on the upholstery work.

This chair is part of a six-chair mid-century dining set and was a pleasure to work on. If you’re into upholstery, vintage restoration, or just appreciate old-school craftsmanship, give it a watch.

No projects backed up at present so I took on this chair. The frame is in very poor condition but usable. Sentiment from being the original owner's great-granddaughter and my willingness to accept the challenge are the only things that make it worthwhile. Very time consuming and frustrating but I'm digging it. Stay tuned for a new YouTube video!!!
