Our Story
This region is rich with classic boat building heritage. Chris-Craft boats started in a small town down the street from our facility in Algonac, Michigan. It was there that 13 year-old Christopher Columbus Smith built his first boat in 1874. His boats – referred to as “punts” or “skiffs”– quickly earned him a reputation as a master boat builder, and the demand for them grew. To keep up with the demand, Chris joined forces with his brother, Hank, and began producing boats full-time. It laid the groundwork for their future as builders of “standardized” runabouts.
Today is takes a special facility and skills to perform the repairs necessary to maintain “classic” boats integrity. We work endless hours to assure our customers water-craft project exceeds all expectations. We are a concept and design shop that takes your vision and creates it. We perform interactive work and an open door to our valued customers. Our facility is private, and secure.
