Turns out shop class still matters.

Our Kid’s Class was a great reminder that kids love the chance to work with their hands, build something real, and spend a little time away from screens. There was a lot of measuring, experimenting, learning, laughing, and pride in taking home something they made themselves.

It felt a little like the old-school shop classes many of us grew up with — and that was pretty special to see. One thing we also learned is that this kind of hands-on experience is something many homeschooling families are looking for as part of their education time.

There are a lot of lessons that can be learned in a wood shop — problem solving, patience, creativity, planning, and learning how to make something from scratch. Gordy is open to helping create more opportunities for that kind of learning in a safe shop environment.

If you’d be interested in future kids classes or homeschool shop learning opportunities, send us a message or leave a comment. We’d love to see where this could grow!

Thanks to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a great day!

One more lamp photo. Sue keeps commandeering the lamps that I make for use in the Powerhouse. I have to admit, they look pretty good where she's using them.

Have you ever wanted to build your own lamp? If you're interested, drop a comment or direct message. I'm considering putting together a class if there's enough interest.

Powerhouse Update: Remember the locked box on the back of the door?
Over a year ago we posted a request for anyone that could pick a lock. We had a locked box on on the back of the oil room door and we could tell something was inside. Well the key-master visited last weekend and we have an answer to the question: "What is is this box?"

Video is in the comments.
