Sometimes it’s great to work with Mother Nature. Sure this plot may not look pretty for a magazine cover but that’s ok. We want taller weeds to grow up within the plot to keep a natural buffer that has added forage as well. Thinking outside the box is never a bad thing.

Liquid enzymes help kick start pond restoration and organic decomposition . They are also a natural degreaser. After this we will add water quality improving bacteria as well as sediment reducing bacteria for nutrient reduction, reducing bad bacteria, and decreasing muck.

💧 EASY WATER MAINTENANCE 🦌

A great way to maintain your water is with beneficial bacteria. This bacteria focuses on the water health and overall water quality. Improving water quality makes the water more suitable for beneficial invertebrates, insects, and amphibians.

If muck reduction is your goal then you need a Pelletized bacteria designed for muck reduction such as D-Muck. No liquid or powder bacteria aids in noticeable muck reduction.

🌱 IS DUCKWEED A BAD POND PLANT 🐸

Duckweed if fully covering a water source is a bad thing, but a little bit helps to filter the water of nutrients. Simply rake it out and your pond is set. I like to leave a little in these deer ponds for filtration but something to definitely monitor.

🌱 OH NO! GREEN SLIME IN DEER POND 💧

Nothing to worry about! This is filamentous green algae and is actually a health algae growing in this earth pond. All that it indicates is the presence of some phosphorus and nitrogen which can easily be mitigated. In the mean time just rake it out and toss into your food plot. Great fertilizer 😉.

🦌 SMALL PLOTS. BIG RESULTS. 🌱

I’m such a big fan of micro and transition food plots. Catching the deer heading to a destination field increases success on mature whitetails IMO. Water, scrape ropes, licking sticks, and a nutritious food plot and you got the key to success.

Sometimes you need to bring in the big equipment. Secluded food plot that is going to be a great transition zone. Special thanks to Jesse at Arndt Forestry for the start to a great plot.

Will update as the food plot gets leveled and planted.

💧 NASTY TUB IN WOODS 🦌

It’s amazing how in one year a tub can completely fill up with debris and leaf litter. The rapid decay creates large amounts of anaerobic activity and build up of gases. If the camera had smell-a-vision you’d be able smell the sewage smell I ran into. A quick clean out, fill up with water, and this tub will be ready for deer for the season.

💧 WATER TUB MAINTENANCE 🦌

Water tubs can be an asset for whitetail and general wildlife management but with everything comes much needed maintenance. Annually to biannually you should be cleaning out those tubs of organic decay.
