After years of drooling over Pinterest pins of my favorite home decor, DIYs and painted furniture photos, I decided to take the big step and start my first project on my own. Little did I know, there was so much work involved and so much more to learn. I researched popular paints, products, and techniques for quite some time before making this a staple in my life, not just a hobby. I wanted to mak

e sure that the products I was using were living up to the manufacturers' expectations, as well as my own. From there, I chose two brands that I would feature on my pieces: Chalk Paint by Annie Sloan and General Finishes. While this is my part time occupation, my full time work consists of raising two adorable, crazy, love-bug little boys, ages 2 and 6 months! My sons are why I paint; both as an outlet and as a mental and physical challenge (mom's and dad's I'm sure you understand!) Being a parent has its challenges, but if it wasn't for being a mom I would never have followed through my first ever project. I managed gyms and health clubs during and after college, and while it was a thrilling and an exciting environment, it was not fulfilling. I'll stress those last four words. I needed something I was proud of myself for.. something different, something changing, something I was excited about!... so I pursued this active interest after I married and had our first child. It is so fulfilling to be able to transform a run-down drab piece of furniture and give it new life. And that's what I did. I gave myself a new meaning of life! Got married, had a few kids, and a new path all at once :)

Enough about me... Here's the scoop on Weathered Originals. I repaint and refinish furniture pieces as I find them. What I have available is listed on my page. So check back frequently for new pieces for sale! Custom painting and refinishing is also available if you want to refresh and update a piece that is either new-to-you or one you have owned for years. Whatever your inspiration is, I will do my absolute best to make it real! If you are in the market for a specific piece or set you'd like painted, I can help in your search. Fabulous kitchen! Jacqueline Scott of Furniture Art Studio painted this kitchen made by McRobert Construction. The hood and island are Graphite with Clear Wax and the sink unit cabinet on the left is a reclaimed buffet was painted in Graphite with some touches of Old White, French Linen and a tiny bit of Paloma with Clear Wax. Superb job!

I don't know about you, but I think it's difficult decorating for winter- the tween season. While my heart and soul are ready for spring, and the decor stores are preparing, lush greenery and bright colors seem too overbearing this time of year. I can't handle it just yet! The simplicity of sage green, neutral candlesticks, cotton picks, and some nature is perfect for me 👌👌

A quick tip for painting French doors without scraping, taping, or splotchy peeling paint. This trick saves SO much time and looks amazing like a factory finish!
