I've spent seven and a half years formally studying wood working and over ten years practicing it. My intention is to make it clear to people that even though we live in an instant world the value of quality still holds weight. DRH holds itself to incredibly high standards, so bring me your craziest idea and we will give it the effort it requires.

Big delivery day here over at DRH. Two pieces went back to their house. The Bombay style sideboard and the horse buggy. Both were in for a little freshen up little facelift if you will. Both customers were very satisfied with their results. And I walked home with two checks. If you’re up in the Bristol Vermont area hanging out by some cow farms you just might get a chance to see the horse buggy.

So apparently I have lost track of how old Herman is. Life gets confusing Pluss there was the Covid times. I don’t think I even kept track of my age during that time. I double checked his paperwork . My sweet Herman will be turning 13 this August. He’s my favorite dog.

I have to keep pushing this horse Buggy out of my shop to work another projects. I’m currently waiting on some metal containers to be built so that it doesn’t just rot away. The client wants to use it flower planter. So I figured I would see how it looks in my front yard. It’s a very fancy printer.

Had a 1780s horse buggy come into the shop last week. We did a full “frame off” restoration on it. Someone else will be doing the leather work. The client wanted a bit of pop so we splashed some red on the wheels and suspension components. I think it came out really well. I believe it’s going to spend its life as a flower planer on their farm.

A non wood working post. I live in a little village of about 300 people on the side of a mountain in Vermont. At the end of my road is building known as the Wilson house. It was once the home of William Wilson. Bill is the cofounder of alcohol Alcoholics Anonymous. The Wilson house is now is the International House AA. So when I pick my kids up, or drop them off at the bus or just take the dog for a walk I get to walk past the Wilson house. I have met so many incredible individuals who turned their life around because of the organization that is Alcoholics Anonymous. It is a truly special feeling when you watch someone walk up for the very first time and take that picture in front of the sign after they have gotten sober and gotten their life back together. I’ve met people with nine months clean in 45 years. Each one of them is just as excited that they made it back to the Wilson house.

Little oil goes a long way in making the color pop. Pluss now I can more easily identify the carving scars and sanding swirls.

Wrapping up the build on the under framing this week. Decided to go with a combination of half laps and sliding dovetail jointary for this application. I’ll be doing some final toon up in the farm as it comes out of clamp today. I like to name my pieces, I’m going to call this one “two trees” as it is entirely made from only two trees.

Me for scale. I stand 5’ 8” for reference. This is the table top for the stump table. Two book matched walnut slabs. We finished at 1 5/8 after all the planning and sanding. It’s widest point it’s 47 1/2” wide and stands 92 1/2” long. It’s about the biggest piece of wood I want to man Handel on my own.
