After taking a year to work along side of some of the world's best craftsmen, I am back at the bench and beyond, . I am currently not in a position to take on large building projects, but my services are available in the areas of altar and deity repairs and renovations and small altar or deity ornaments. If you have a larger project in mind, please don't hesitate to reach out. I am endeavoring to locate a suitable space so that I can expand my offerings. Stay tuned!

(Note: I didn't build these altars. Only small repairs, restoration, or ornamentation was done by me. e.g. Nilachakras, mouldings, etc. )

The last few projects that I worked on before my move to NJ were gifts for the deities at the Radha-Govinda Mandir in Brooklyn. I didn't want to share them near to the auspicious days in which they were presented because I didn't want to attract attention to myself on those Holy days.

I made a mace and plow weapon for Lord Balarama's appearance day and a throne for the Srimad Bhagavatam for Bhadra Purnima. It is my greatest joy serving with my woodworking.

Currently, I've been very busy with my new career, building furniture, and so I've taken a break from my Devotional woodworking, but I'm sure there will be more in the future, Krishna willing.

Here's a sneak peek at my current project. This is an ornamental book holder scrolled, carved, and then sculpted from Basswood. I will share more details after I deliver the piece.

I kicked off NYC Ratha Yatra weekend with the delivery of this beautiful altar. Ramesh Prabhu said, "The altar completes my home!" The altar made his home a temple. Hare Krishna!

With this altar nearly finished, at the request of the devotee who will use this altar in his Devotional Service, I took some photos with Sri-Sri Radha Shyamsundar, Prabhupada's books, and some paraphernalia so he could visualize what the altar will look like in his home. This altar was the design of a dear devotee friend, and with Krishna's guidance, I simply implemented the design.

I think this altar will be so beautiful with his deities living on it! If you desire a truly unique altar for your deities, please feel free to send me a message. Currently, I have a very limited number of spots available on my build queue, but my schedule will open up some more in the Fall. There is the option to add your name to the queue to secure your place in line. Haribol!

I am nearly finished with my current altar build with the completion of the Nilachakra. I will be delivering the altar to New Jersey in a couple of weeks on my way to pull Jagannatha Swami down 5th Avenue. I can't wait to see their Lordships in their new home!

I traded my banjo-making sized Tacoma for a furniture- making sized van. This will surely make materials acquisition and deliveries far more efficient!

A week of cold weather froze the maple trees, so I was able to catch up on some rest, bottle syrup, and get some work done on this altar. Yesterday, on the most auspicious appearance day of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu, I was not able to attend the celebrations at the temple, but I made the most of the day and worked on building a temple. This is a most rewarding service. Construction of the gopuram is nearly finished. I need to make a top cap and kalasa ( finial) or Nilachakra, depending on what my friend decides. Then comes construction of the steps and some railing. My friend will do the finishing and then I will be starting a very special project! Stay tuned!

I was hoping to have the gopuram finished before sugaring season starts....Alas! Progress will likely grind to a halt until mid-April unless we get some cold weather.

While I wish I was at ISKCON of Central NJ's Kirtan Lovefest, I stayed home to prep for tapping and to work on the altar project.

The first photo shows the crazy grain on the red oak ply on the back panel. It was a bold choice by the client! The second photo shows some fancy mahogany cauls I had to use to clamp around moulding. I had to get creative as the solid top was adopted later in the build and I couldn't glue the pillar bases until after I could be assured that the base cabinet top properly aligned with the gopuram base. In the third photo, I applied the first coat of OSMO to the underside of the gopuram as it will be easier to do this before I build the gopuram 'dome'. You can also see my solution to keeping the altar modular for ease of transportation. The pillars are attached to the base with lag screws and the top of the pillars are secured with dowels. The back panel secures the base cabinet to the gopuram from the back via pocket screws. This system assures that there will be no visible screws, unlike most 'commercial' altars on the market. It's a shame to see an otherwise beautifully made altar assembled with shiny screws. So, my altars will not have screws showing in most cases.

All this to say that there is much thought and care that goes into my altar builds.
