This was a fun nostalgic build - Catsburg Country Store was built in the 1920s by sheriff Cat Belvin. It was "the center of the universe" to a lot of farmers and created many childhood memories for generations. As a matter of a fact some of my earliest childhood memories took place in this store and the little league baseball field next to it. My grandmother and grandfather lived a quarter mile down the road where they raised my father, uncle and aunt on a To***co farm that was purchased by my Great grandfather, RL Stokes, in 1946 from the Belvin family. 69 acres for a whopping 100 dollars....yes you read that right. Fast forward to now, my family was lucky enough to have built a house on that farm. Unfortunately the year we built was the year Catsburg Country Store was taken down. It stood for roughly 100 years and was a symbol of home to a lot of people. My aunt also worked at the store as a teenager. We can't help but miss this iconic landmark every time we turn down Hamlin road. The area is changing quicker than my childhood eyes would have ever thought possible.
