Are you familiar with hair wreaths? Originally, hair wreaths were made from the hair of deceased loved ones as an honor and remembrance, and the strands placed at the center. As another family member died, their hair would be placed into the center, and the previous lock would be moved to the outside. The hair was crocheted onto fine wire that was bent into shapes of flowers and leaves, using different colored hair of family members, for shading. These trunks are from the late 1800s and in "as found condition"
