‼️PLEASE SHARE ‼️ to give our long term dogs exposure . Even if you have no interest , you never know who you might reach .
Every dog in the photo collage below has a fully sponsored adoption fee .
This means they are FREE . This is a word that we don’t like to use in the shelter world .
We don’t advertise FREE because looking for a FREE dog is not a place to begin deciding on an animal to share your life with .
But the reality is, even though these dogs are free , they are still sitting in shelters .
Pictures tell the tale, what commonality do you see among these dogs ? Your eyes don’t lie . They are almost 100% pitbulls . Strike #1 ✅
People are uneducated and afraid of the “breed” instead of getting to know the individual dog. Strike #2 ✅
They are overbred, given away and discarded when they are unsocialized and untrained .
Insurance companies will not insure and rental situations do not permit pitbulls on property .
Strike #3 ✅
What else don’t you know by looking at the photos ? Almost 100% of these dogs cannot go directly from a shelter setting into a home with other animals .
At the shelter, most of them, (excluding 2/3) do not test well with other dogs near kennels or on premises .
They may eventually acclimate to another dog in a home setting but some of them are very set in their ways.
Primarily those who have been housed at the shelter for long periods .
In addition, some are afraid or intimidated by children, or take some time in getting to know new people . Is this held against them ? Absolutely Strike #4 ✅
So why are shelters full ? Ask the breeders or the humans who abandoned each one of these dogs because of a variety of human excuses.
Why are shelters full ? Because until humans start regarding dogs and cats as living, breathing, worthy creatures or the laws change to not make them so easily disposable , shelters will continue to overflow.
Take a chance on one of “not as easily adoptable dogs”
These are some of the best human companions you could ever hope to meet , the fact that they are “Free” is secondary . ❤️
Some of them are waiting almost 7 years for you to rescue them.
