Meet Cassian. šŸ¤šŸŒø

If Ciera is the bold one, Cassian is her lighter side. Cream on the outside with crocodile texture on the front panel, gold-dipped feet, and a matching chair, also in crocodile. Itā€™s polished, calm, and understated.

Then you open the drop-front. Hot pink inside, painted florals across the writing surface, and little drawers waiting in the cubbies. Itā€™s the same personality as Ciera, just wearing a softer outfit.

And yes, he came with his own chair, which is now done up in metallic white and gold. šŸ’›

Caspian & Wolfe up close. šŸŠ

Iā€™ve been using this crocodile vinyl on several pieces. The cream, pearly finish catches the light, and every scale has a raised, sculpted edge, so it looks like it has depth. It has already shown up on Wolfe, my plant table, and the next piece Iā€™m posting has it too.

I love a texture that makes you want to touch it. Do you ever run your hand over furniture to feel the details? šŸ‘‡

Meet Wolfe. šŸŠšŸŒæ

Wolfe used to be a smokerā€™s table. Now he holds a plant, and heā€™s doing much better for it. Cream paint, a crocodile-textured top, and a drawer that now doubles as a little stage for the greenery.

I love giving a piece a completely different job. Same sturdy turned legs and the same sweet little drawer, but a very different life.

Sometimes a piece doesnā€™t need to change who it is. It just needs a better purpose. šŸŒ±

Meet Belle. šŸ–¤āœØ

She started as a golden brown, a little worn and a lot of curves. Now sheā€™s classy black with gold on every carved detail, and she still does everything she did before: a dresser below and a drop-down desk above, with little cubbies and mini drawers hiding behind the front.

Belle was a commission, made for someone who knew exactly what they wanted. I loved every detail of this one. Iā€™m especially proud of how the gold carvings stand out against the black.

Arlo, all of him. ā˜€ļø

Hereā€™s the full view of the piece from the close-up. A mid-century rolling cabinet with a sunrise rising across the fluted doors, gold rays against soft blue-green, and a gold circle handle that sits right at the center of the sun.

Underneath, thereā€™s a cane shelf, a bleached wood frame, and gold casters, because a cabinet that rolls should have wheels worth looking at.

Mid-century pieces were built to last, and this one just needed a new sunrise. šŸŒ…

Arlo is part of a private collection, so heā€™s off to his forever home.

That tangled middle is the part nobody posts. The color that looked perfect and wasnā€™t. The pieces that got painted, gold-leafed, and then scrapped. The ā€œwhat if I just...ā€ at 11pm that rewrites the whole design. By the time a piece is revealed, itā€™s usually the third idea, not the first.

Itā€™s also why commissions run at a premium. When a piece is made for you, the tangle gets bigger. Iā€™m working from your vision, not just mine: matching a color to your space, sourcing the right piece, adjusting as we go, and not stopping until it feels like yours. Youā€™re paying for all of that tangled middle, not just the clean line at the end.

The straight line is what you see. The loops are what make it one of one.

This one is all about negative space. The sun isnā€™t painted on top of the cabinet. It appears in the spaces between the shapes, so your eye finishes the picture. The light blue and gold sit side by side on the fluted panels, and the rays seem to move as you walk past.

Arlo is a rolling mid-century cabinet with a cane bottom and a few more surprises, and heā€™s part of a private collection. This close-up was the detail I couldnā€™t stop looking at.

Meet Fiona. šŸŒæāœØ

Silverado sage on top, gold leaf on the bottom, and every fluted leg looks like it was dipped in sunlight. A textured drawer front with a thin gold border, and the stretcher below catches the light all day long.

Sheā€™s soft where you expect her to be and a little dramatic where you donā€™t, which is exactly how I like a console table.

Fiona is part of a private collection, so sheā€™s already found her home.

šŸŽ¶ Hereā€™s how the front of Havana came together.

I started with a vintage western puzzle, because old puzzles are made from thick, quality board and the pieces hold up. I painted the pieces, fitted them together one at a time, and sealed them under resin.

I also left in the parts that didnā€™t make it. The gold-painted pieces and the gold-leafed ones both looked great on their own, but neither was right for this piece. Thatā€™s the part nobody sees: as an artist, you rarely end up where you started, and the final reveal is usually the third idea, not the first.

Itā€™s slow and itā€™s a little unnecessary, but thatā€™s what makes it art.
