Two Oaks Design Business page for Two Oaks Design. Specializing in heirloom quality furniture Hi, my name is Billy York. I love to create and build. It’s pretty simple.

Ever since I was a kid I sought out ways to design and construct, from Legos to music, model planes and photography. I wish I had a cool story about how I started woodworking. I started when I paid someone to epoxy top a beautiful piece of Mesquite wood for a desk. He did a terrible job. I found waves, burn marks and cracks in the epoxy. I said, I can do that better, and off I went. I have always

loved and appreciated woods individual, unique allure. Trees create such natural beauty, what better way to show off natures elegance than by creating attractive, functional art that will last lifetimes. I am a small one man shop, other than the occasional times my wife or kids will pitch in. Every piece is crafted by me from start to finish. However, this also means that certain pieces will take longer, as I do not mass produce anything, or keep a large inventory. With this in mind, every piece will be created individually for you, which also allows customization and personalization!

This is too cool not to share. Working on a desk for my most awesome customer ever, my daughter. Its entirely her ideas from wood selection to the lightning to the colors. She's also helping build it as well.

When I'm making big tables and I have my making games and puzzles. Its like having an employee. They come off the machine, typically require a light sanding and then I put finish on them.

, marble solitaire, small palm sized maze and wood puzzle. I typically make the smaller games and puzzles from scrap wood I have from lazy susan orders. The cutout for lazy susan leaves an add triangle shape with a curve, but there's enough room to carve out marble solitaire, and the wood puzzle pieces.

you can order any of these in time from www.twooaksdesign.com or from my Etsy.

Who said lazy susans had to be round?

Left is a Bolivian Rosewood made from off cuts of larger lazy susans.
Right is pecan with epoxy river.

Some projects are easy, some are challenging, and some make you learn a lot. This Elm wood river tavle was definitely the second two. The Elm is very yellow with red tones, the customer wanted more Grey tones.

The Elm didn't want to take any stain very well, and the stains didnt remove the yellows or red, and in some instances made the reds darker and deeper red.

I learned how to make a 2 part wood bleach, after much trial and error, I got the wood to turn white. Now it its taking color much better.

Final test fit.

The best part of having a CNC is having it do more tedious tasks so I can work on my important things.
