We love adding wreaths to our front doors! It makes a statement and helps our entrance feel more inviting. This wreath we purchased on Amazon sings spring!!!🌸 Adding a festive ribbon bundle is super easy to do and elevates a simple wreath.

Just remember…it always looks worse before it looks better! Refinishing furniture is a process. Sometimes the steps along the way to get to the beautiful end result are scary! What do you think of this furniture flip ending?

For this furniture makeover we used a walnut gel stain on the top and white chalk paint on the base. We added dark wax for a little character and depth. New hardware was added at the end.

A little dark wax goes a long way to add some character and distressing to a piece of furniture. We brush it on and then buff it off with a soft cloth.

We found the definition of refinishing furniture on google: It is a way to breathe new life into worn, damaged, or dated furniture, transforming it into a functional and aesthetic piece. 😂😂😂 I think they’re right! Don’t you agree?

Ah, this furniture makeover is good! Sometimes we want to create something that’s out of the box! Using white glaze over the sage green paint added depth and character to this round end table. What do you think of this furniture flip?

We really just love seeing furniture makeover before and after pictures. The transformation of this thrifted buffet was amazing! This was done during our “everything is painted white” era and then was given a distressed look by wiping on glaze and then lightly misting it with water. It was a fun technique to use! What do you think? If we were starting fresh today with this piece now we would definitely do something different. What would you do?It’s so interesting how styles change.

We updated this end table back in 2019. We painted it white, sanded down the top and gave it a lighter colored stain. We even updated the hardware. But now that we’re looking at it with our 2026 eyes, we think the hardware needs to be changed. What are your recommendations for new hardware? Would you change it?

Project recap: We hope you’re still following along to see the progress and to see how we refinish this nightstand.

•We have vacuumed and cleaned the piece

•We have sanded down the top to raw wood

•We have given the entire piece a scuff sand with 220 grit to prepare the surface for paint

Next step: Adding new LEGS!

Part Four: This is the sanding step in our nightstand refinishing project. We want to restain the top so we have to remove the existing finish. For this particular piece we are just simply going to stand down the existing stain until we reach raw wood. We are using 80 grit sandpaper and will work our way up to 200 grit. Sanding in the direction of the grain of wood is super important. We also need to give the rest of the piece a good scuff sand with 200 grit sandpaper so that the surface is roughed up and loses it shine. A scuff stand prepares the surface to receive paint. Keep hanging with us so that you can see the next step in this furniture flip.

It’s just work, right?!? Removing paint and finding beautiful wood underneath is so satisfying! Have you used a chemical stripper before?

Step Two: (of our furniture makeover!)

We removed the hardware and the brass accent pieces! An easy way to update your furniture is to add some new hardware. It’s an economical way to change up the style and bring new life to your piece.
