This one tested me.
Some pieces come together easily… this one wanted to be different. The epoxy inlay took many attempts and I threw more than one of my toys out of my pram— but I’m happy with how it landed. Sometimes the difficult ones are worth it. Thank you to Evan at Wild Woodworker for the beautiful oak round.

I made this as a test piece for the engraver but it turned out to have a life of its own. Wood always feels alive to me — the grain, the texture, the way it reacts to heat or pressure. Every line in it already has a direction, you just work with it.
