Retention and recruitment issues? How has the fire department not given retirement benefits to retirees with over 120 years of experience? Personnel that have served the community through Covid, went into burning buildings and have helped save numerous lives throughout Destin. All for the cost of under $30,000 annually. But yet, they will spend $50,000 on a flag pole. Over $100,000 on a seawall that does not need repair. Or the cost of a monthly commission meeting. No wonder the district cant keep or retain employees. #

It is with great pride that we proudly endorse for Floridas First Congressional Seat Jimmy Patronis.

During his time as State Fire Marshall and CFO, Patronis has always supported the men and women of public safety. Jimmy Patronis has also been the main component of getting much needed aid in the state during the hurricanes of 2023 through Floridas Department of Financial Services. (DFS)

We know it has been a cold, with residents of the panhandle experiencing unprecedented winter conditions but if you can, please cast your vote today to ensure that Floridas First Congressional Seat is in good hands.

Nearly 100 first responders and others from the Destin community came out to the annual First Responders Appreciation Cookout on Sept. 11 in Destin.

Today, we honor the bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering courage of the 343 firefighters, including so many IAFF members, who gave their lives 23 years ago in service to others. 🚒👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

Their legacy lives on in every first responder who continues to selflessly answer the call. We will never forget the families they left behind, nor the incredible acts of heroism witnessed that day. 🕊️❤️

Let us take a moment to reflect, remember, and pay tribute to all who served on that fateful day, and to those who continue to serve our communities today. 🙏

Today, we honor all working men and women, especially those who risk their lives every day to keep us safe. Your sacrifices and hard work don’t go unnoticed. Thank you for your unwavering dedication to public safety and for standing strong as a vital part of the labor movement.
