Hi friends! Figured it was time for one of those posts :)
I'm a software engineer by day, furniture refinisher by night 😉. Like many people, I've been working from home since covid started and desperately needed some sort of creative/physical outlet.
Furniture restyling has become such a bright spot in my life - more than ever, I've been reminded of how essential it is for our bodies to move and create. I love Kurt Vonnegut's directive: "Practice any art, music, singing, dancing, acting, drawing, painting, sculpting, poetry, fiction, essays, reportage, no matter how well or badly, not to get money and fame, but to experience becoming, to find out what’s inside you, to make your soul grow." And in some small way, these acts of furniture re-creation are helping meet this need for me ❤️.
Here are 5 facts about myself 😊:
🌵My current life goal is to go back to school for counseling and specialize in trauma/attachment/play therapy in the foster care population. But I've got to pay off some grad school debt first, so buy my pieces, plz 🙏😜
🌵My favorite furniture style to refinish is mid century modern, but I love the challenge of refinishing pieces in every style and making something beautiful out of something worn/forgotten.
🌵I have a fluffy, precious Siberian cat named Phoebe and I'm obsessed with her. 🙋 if you'd like her to make some cameos in my posts/stories.
🌵Right now, my favorite tv shows are Legion, Watchmen, Schitt's Creek, The Great British Baking Show, and The United States of Tara. An eclectic mix, to be sure.
🌵I’ve been married for 3.5 years to my sexy husband, Seth, and love him more than ever. He helps me move the furniture to stage/photograph, so ya’ll have him to thank for that 😜
What creative outlets are bringing you joy right now?? 🥰
