To whom it may concern:
In March we attended the MPBA pet conference in Lebanon, MO. We were browsing the vendors and supplies and came across a product called “Shield”. The gentleman told us it was safe for all practices and that you did not have to remove the animals from the area when you sprayed, fogged, or used in any form. He even told us he wouldn’t hesitate to drink it. He said the best part about the product was that it was developed in conjunction with a Veterinarian and she used it in her home to kill the germs young kids bring home from school and daycare. I was skeptical, but having had issues with Parvo in the past, wanted a product that would kill the germs but not harm the animal, surface, or my lungs! We purchased 2 gallons of the concentrated product and began using it when we returned home with our new puppies, and then with our commercial barn birds (chickens we purchased from a commercial mennonite operation). The birds were stripped of all their neck and most of their tail and wing feathers. They looked rough, like they were going through their molt. We didn’t have any guidelines for dosing, so we dumped a splash in the water buckets everytime we filled them with water. We noticed the birds had perked up, were laying more eggs than when we got them, and had new feather growth in just a week of being on the Shield. We used the 2 gallons and didn’t give much thought into replacing it as the birds and puppies were doing great. In about a week the birds started getting sick. They had respiratory issues and we lost a few, not to mention the ammonia in the barn was terrible. I remembered we had picked up a business card @ the conference and I emailed them to see if we could buy directly from them. David answered all the questions I had and provided me with a product list and dosing guidelines. He even gave me his personal cell phone and told me if I had any more questions or needed anything to let him know. We placed an order for 2 cases of the Shield gallons and started the birds back on the product. In 24 hours we noticed the birds were eating better and drinking more water. An increase in egg production hit @ 48 hours after Shield was put in their water. I dosed the puppies, now weaned, and they came out of their weaning slump and got their appetites. I have to say, I am a believer in the product, and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to sanitize, clean, or as a preventative to common germs and illnesses. Shield has been a game changer, and I highly recommend it to operations of any size or species. I am enclosing pictures from the barn birds after the 1st dosing of Shield when they began to decline, and again a week after we restarted the product. You can see the chickens grow out their feathers and put on weight. You can also see the large brown eggs they were laying and how the egg production increased after the Shield.
We use the Shield to sanitize, disinfect, and as an antiviral preventative. And it is cheaper than the smelly cleaning products that mask the problem with their scents, or burn your eyes or skin from bleach. As for myself and our farming operation, we won’t be left without Shield, as it covers us on sanitation, herd health, cleanliness, and overall looks.
