"Forgive yourself!" We see it in self-help books and on the feed, but it's not as simple as it may sound.

What makes it difficult is that nobody else can help you remove that burden. We tend to look externally for validation that we're "still a good person," but the only person who can make you believe it enough to set yourself free is you.

The other part of the challenge is that in order to forgive yourself, you need to take an honest inventory. Only after attaining this level of understanding can you truly move forward.

This card came up in my last insta reading, so I'd imagine it must be important right now!

The Star is about hope. It's often considered cliche that "after the darkness comes the dawn," but there's something to that. Cliche or not, the cycle of day and night is unstoppable, a property of nature beyond the workings of mankind. Our sun may be out of sight for a time, but the Star is another sun, shining among billions as a reminder that the light of hope is always present.

The King of Pentacles is a cool card in the -- here it is reversed, but the reversal sets the figure upright.

The Queen of Swords fights to keep the beastly bird at bay, and while the King stands strong, the bull is in a position to dominate him. It is precarious situation that represents an imminent threat of overwhelm.

The culprit?

It's the state of being paralyzed by indecision that leads to feeling stretched too thin. It's not that there are actually too many demands, it's the overwhelm comes from not knowing how to allocate your energy. You're already aware -- on an intellectual level, at least -- that you don't have enough spoons to give your full attention to every detail. But how to manage this?

Well, there's that Moon again. (It's always a good idea to pay attention to the cards that come up repeatedly.) I'm drawn to the boat in this image, ready to navigate the twisting stream of life around the hazards in the dark. Some of the things that seem important might actually belong on the back burner. Really examine your perceived obligations in a different light through a fresh lens. Ask yourself, "What do I want?" Then ask, "What do I need?" Listen carefully to your inner voice to find these answers, as they might not be what you assume at first glance.

I see two things going on here at once, and at the center of it all is a resistance to an inner call to rise to one's purpose. Are you the best version of yourself right now?

The first "story" here is of someone pushing themself too hard for the sake of attaining material wealth, probably feeling a pressure that they did not feel before.

On the other hand, there is having to face fears directly and bring insecurities and worry out of the shadows.

So how does this all tie together? I'm going to do something I haven't done before and connect it to my own self now. I always ask for the message that someone needs to hear today, but it looks like that someone happens to be me at the moment. I'll share the insight with Instagram I guess.

Personally, I am someone who has to fight the urge to fill my day with excessive amounts of work. What I really need is a new way to approach my life's passion. At the moment, I'm torn between ways to focus my energy. But making a choice in one's life path always requires real introspection and, scariest of all, the daunting task of unearthing long-held doubts and insecurities.

It goes without saying that periods of transition are not always easy. In fact, even a change that makes your heart glad -- moving forward to something better -- usually involves some sort of spiritual death as you close one door to make way for another to open. Does it feel strange to grieve for a time that was difficult? Maybe. But it's okay... Allow yourself to feel your feelings, it is an act of compassion towards yourself. It's a part of putting the past to rest that is not always discussed, but it is necessary in order to embrace the future with less weight on your shoulders in the long run.
