Has anybody ever kept a cuttlefish before in their reef? They'd prefer a species tank. There are smaller varieties that can be housed in as little as a 20g tank. They have some special needs such as live food and pristine water conditions. They also only have around a year long lifespan. But they are an intelligent animal that quickly gets to know their owner and will greet you when you come to the front of your tank. They can be a very rewarding addition to a tank.

For those that are just getting started in reef keeping. And even those that are either looking to change lights or build your own DIY fixture, take a moment to read this article. It really helps to understand the importance of PAR and it's associated PUR/PAS levels needed to obtain the best benefits to your photosynthetic reef inhabitants. Days are long gone that claim so many watts per gallon are needed. That technique is old news that should not be considered any longer with advancements in lighting and the different types available now days with differences of input/output.
